June 20 ~St. Silverius, Pope and Martyr

As a disciple of Christ, this holy pontiff followed Him bearing the cross. Because of his refusal to compromise in matters of faith, he was banished from Rome. No amount of persecution could force him into submission.

But you, my beloved, building yourselves upon your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~Epistle: St. Jude

O Jesus, Brightness of eternal glory, Comfort of the pilgrim soul, with Thee is my mouth without voice, and my silence speaketh to Thee. ~Imitation: Book III

Ideal~ St. Silverius seemed so very congenial that an Arian empress thought to frighten him easily into submission to the heretical bishops. Silverius answered firmly: “There may be many kings, but there is only one Pope.”

Today~ Be good-natured; be always in good humor, be always ready to do anybody a good turn; be agreeable to surrender your opinion for the common good; but, when there is question of right or wrong, stand by your guns, be immovable.

Slogan~ Truth and right know no compromise.
