The Gospel tells us that Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus. That alone is sufficient commendation for canonization. It was Martha’s joyful privilege to serve our Lord whenever He accepted the hospitality offered Him in the home at Bethany.
Martha, Martha thou art careful, and art troubled about many things but one thing is necessary. ~Gospel
O Lord, God, my holy Lover, when Thou shalt come into my heart, all that is within me shall be filled with joy. ~Imitation: Book III
Ideal~ Martha considered it a great privilege to prepare with her own hands Christ’s meals. You may be sure that the best was not good enough in Martha’s estimation when there was question of doing something for Jesus’ comfort.
Today~ You can give Christ the same personal service that Martha did. Christ Himself tells you how: “Whenever you do to the least of My brethren for My sake, you do unto Me.” Then, too, Christ is still with us. Have you ever done anything to help beautify the church or the altar?
Slogan~ Only one thing is necessary.
