June 8~ St. Medard, Bishop

St. Medard was noted for his compassion for the poor. With them he shared all he owned even to his garments. As bishop he originated the custom of crowning as May queen the most deserving girl of the village.

Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord, that walketh in His ways. ~Vespers: Psalm cxxvii

I became the most humble and most abject of men, that thou mightiest overcome thy pride by My humility. ~Imitation: Book III

Ideal~ St. Medard was a bishop in France. He himself had known St. Remigius, who had baptized Clovis. You note his connection with our lovely devotion to Mary, as Queen of May.

Today~ Two devotions should go with you into life: devotion in our Lady and devotion to the Sacred Heart. Cultivate those two devotions during your school life; no one will encourage you each day as you are being encouraged to those things now.

Slogan~ Devotion to the Mother must necessarily be bound up with devotion to the Son.
